Tribeca Film Festival turns classic movies into hieroglyphics in OOH campaign

Created in consultation with a certified Egyptologist from Brown University, the OOH campaign takes the subjects of some of Tribeca’s 2019 anniversary events – Apocalypse Now, This Is Spinal Tap, Say Anything, and The Simpsons – and turns them into incredibly intricate hieroglyphic illustrations.

It’s a clever reminder that though formats are constantly changing, great stories are timeless.

The out-of-home campaign will launch with a full-scale mural installation located at the intersection of Morgan Avenue and Meserole St. in East Williamsburg NYC as well as a rotating, 22-board takeover at the Oculus WTC.

The agency has also created ancient Egyptian-style prints promoting the six programming sections covered by Tribeca – film, television, music, virtual reality, online work, and live talks – that will live around the Festival site and throughout New York City, from subway stations to bus stops.
